Well, as a long time mac owner - I have owned every powerbook + macbook pro since the 667dvi (still running), I feel I must complain. Even though it was a 3rd party who put me in the corner. I have been asked to write official complaints to asia/pacific and europe over this as I did not receive any apple care for my money. Oh man, 1 hour on the phone to 2 people cost more that just sorting it out. So, apple denmark said to me - we can see your dilemma, please write a complaint to apple. Having to argue over a hardware fault is really uncool. I will be liable to have to pay for the examination if they say the problem is caused by me - which I think it is not. I found another, but they actually have a similar plan with the liability, but ship the mac somewhere else so can definitely not say yes/no on the spot, ie.

They told me sounds like you have a gamble on your hands with the service centre, so, find another. Subsequent, 17 June 2009, I spent 1:11 on the phone to applecare denmark. It seems to me a simple problem like this can't cost that much to say 'yes, that is a loose fastening' or not. On 16 June I went to the local Apple Premium service provider, and they tell me sure we can put it on applecare.īut, after seeing the problem, and describing it in system etc, they tell me that if they subsequently decide it is not covered by AppleCare, they will make an offer to fix it, and if I do not accept the offer I must pay 500kr (USD93.30) to get the laptop back.ĭoes this sound like a fair plan? It looks obvious to me that the assembly rod is loose on the inside.Įven though I am certain the hinge/assembly rod is loose due to the fastening inside, I am feeling cornered by this retailer into having to pay cash over and above the applecare plan. I have AppleCare until june 2010 on this mac. I have seen this before in a previous model macbook pro (first edition) It appears that the rod, which is the part attached inside the body of the mac is loose - inside the body, as in, the clasp that holds to assembly rod in place is loose. I have a 2007 macbook pro with the screen hinge giving a little play.
